Exploring the World of Coupons: Your Guide to Maximized Savings

Coupons have been a key part of smart shopping for years. But as tech changes, so does couponing. Now, we've got old-school paper coupons and cool digital deals. Let's check out all the coupon types and how you can use them to save lots of cash.

Types of Coupons

Paper Coupons: These are the ones you clip from newspapers, flyers, or magazines. They're real things you can hold and often go in coupon binders.
Digital Coupons: These are the new way to save. You find them on store sites, apps, or through emails. They get scanned from your phone when you pay.
Coupon Codes: Mainly for online shopping, you put these codes in when you check out to get a discount.
Cashback Offers: Not really a coupon, but they save you money after you buy stuff. Apps and credit card rewards give cash back for certain items or stores.

Step-by-Step Guide to Couponing

Step 1: Get Your Tools Ready

Start with a folder for paper coupons and a smartphone for digital ones. Sign up for newsletters from shops you like to get special deals.

Step 2: Know Where to Look

For paper coupons, look in:
  • Newspapers
  • Store flyers
  • Magazines
  • Mailers
For digital coupons and codes, check out:

Step 3: Keep Your Coupons Sorted

Put paper coupons in order by type or when they expire. Use apps to keep digital coupons ready and set reminders for when they run out.

Step 4: Understand the Details

Make sure you know the rules. Some coupons can't be used with other deals, or they might only work for certain things.

Step 5: Plan Your Shopping Trip

Use coupons when stores have sales for even bigger discounts. Make a list based on where your coupons will save you the most.

Step 6: Be Ready at Checkout

Have paper coupons cut out and ready. For digital coupons, open them on your phone before you get to the cashier.

Step 7: Keep Track of Your Savings

Write down how much you save. This shows you how great couponing is and keeps you going.

Advanced Strategies

  • Stacking Coupons: Use a coupon from the maker and a store coupon for the same thing.
  • Price Matching: Some stores will match other stores' prices, so you can use your coupons with the lowest price.
  • Rain Checks: If a sale item is gone, ask for a rain check to buy it later at the sale price and use your coupon then.
  • Loyalty Programs: Mix coupons with loyalty program deals for more savings.

Shopping/Coupon Browser Extensions

Browser extensions can make couponing even easier. They find and apply coupon codes for you when you shop online. Here are some popular ones:
  • Honey: Honey automatically finds and applies coupon codes at checkout.
  • Capital One Shopping: Capital One Shopping compares prices and provides available coupon codes.
  • Rakuten: Rakuten offers cash back and coupons for many online stores.

Just add these extensions to your browser, and they'll do the coupon search for you.
By knowing all about coupons and following these steps, you'll be on your way to being a coupon pro. Remember, good couponing is all about being organized and ready. Enjoy the savings!

August also marks the time for back to school! Whether you've chosen E-Learning or in-person schooling this school year, your child will still need those back-to-school supplies such as pencils, paper, folders, backpacks…etc. In General, the closer we get to the start of the school year, the better your chances of getting a good price. You can even add your child's school supplies to your grocery pick-up order! Also, many states offer a TAX-FREE Weekend for school shopping in August, which in some cases also includes clothes and electronics like laptops and tablets. Dates for the TAX-FREE Weekend events and what is included in the TAX-FREE event vary from state to state.

You can also ride out the end of summer with some big deals on lawnmowers and other seasonal outdoor equipment. And let's not forget about swimsuits and other summer attire and if you have the Rakuten browser installed you can save even more by earning up to 2% cashback! As the summer season winds down, retailers will need to start making room for the Autumn stock that will soon start rolling in! Best Practices When Shopping Online

Check out Best Practices When Shopping Online guide.
This post contains paid affiliate links, please read our Advertising Disclosure Statement.
The internet has changed the way people shop for goods and services. When you buy online, you don't have to spend time and fuel driving to stores, and you get to skip the tedious process of standing in line. However, shopping online doesn't come without risks. Educate yourself about ways to stay safe when buying online and save some money along the way, too. Take a look at these tips for making the most of your purchasing adventures.

Find Deals
The internet is home to a vast array of online sellers. From retail hubs to auction sites, there are countless deals available. Money Connexion says not to hurt your bank account by buying the first listing of an item you see; unless the inventory is low, the merchandise won't sell out quickly. Look for the same or equivalent items on other sites and compare prices. Check to see if coupons exist for the product or service you want to buy. Services offering online coupons and discount codes make saving money more accessible to everyone. Taking these steps can make online shopping a lot less costly.

Verify the Product
Sadly, not every online merchant is honest. The sale of counterfeit merchandise is still a troubling problem. Surprisingly, fake Disney tickets are one of the most scammed items. The good news is that it's easy to avoid buying counterfeit tickets when you know what to look out for. One big red flag is a price that's too good to be true. Disney never offers steep discounts on their tickets. You can sometimes find 10% off, but if you see a "deal" for 50% or more off the price of Disney tickets, it's probably a scam.

Also, be careful about where you buy tickets. Park Savers warns that websites like eBay, Craigslist or other classified websites, and stands or in-person meetings should be avoided at all cost. There is absolutely no way to verify the authenticity of a ticket through these options. Purchasing a ticket from a stranger you don't know online and hoping it will work out at the parks adds a lot of unnecessary stress to a person's vacation.

Read Customer Reviews
The Drum says that customer reviews can actually tell you a lot about a specific product and the merchant making the sale. Customers report on the quality of the product, which is essential. They also mention details about shipping, customer service, returns and more. You can avoid unpleasant surprises when you buy from a seller that has a good track record with customers.

You can take full advantage of your online shopping experience when you follow smart practices like these. Don’t forget to browse through these Krazy Deal Daze couponing basics before starting your shopping spree!

4 Tips for Saving Money on Your Next Home Improvement

Check Out our 4 Tips for Saving Money on Your Next Home Improvement
This post contains paid affiliate links, please read our Advertising Disclosure Statement.

Home improvement projects improve the quality of residential properties and can allow you to feel more comfortable in the space. One of the most important parts of the project is the amount of money that you plan to spend. Although renovating or remodeling your home can cost a significant amount of money, there are a few ways to save on your next project.

Specify a Budget and Stick to It

One of the most important steps of starting a home improvement project is knowing how much you can afford to spend. Without crunching a few numbers in advance, it can be easy to get into debt and have remorse for the project. Calculate each cost, which includes paying for siding or other home service professionals. Most budget blowouts happen because homeowners fail to properly count the cost of home services, or don't even try. Determine what you can afford while working with your contractor and add a bit of wiggle room in the budget for unexpected costs that can arise throughout
the process.

Get Multiple Quotes On Home Services

Instead of hiring the first person that you talk to on the phone, opt for getting multiple quotes from different contractors to find the best deal that works with your budget. Contractors each have different rates, which makes it necessary to call around when narrowing down your options. Avoid choosing the contractor that provides you with a cheap deal, which may mean that they'll compromise on the quality of the materials that are used. Once it's time to pay for the services, opt for using cash to avoid paying interest.

Ask the Hardware Store If They Have Any Deals or Promotions

Hardware stores always have items that are discounted because of products that have been returned or to make room for new items that they want to sell. Promotions are also common throughout the year, especially around holidays. Knowing when the products will be discounted can allow you to schedule a time for when you can purchase certain materials or hardware to save more money. You can also purchase leftover materials from manufacturers to get a better deal.

Search for Coupons Online

As more people shop online, it can become easier to find different coupons that allow you to pay less for materials that you already plan to purchase. Some retailers will provide you with a coupon if you sign up for their emails or will give you a discount if you provide your mailing address. Others have coupon codes that are available at different times of the month. Many home improvement stores also offer discounts for people who have AAA or to military members, making it necessary to ask while shopping around.

Knowing the different ways that you can save money on your next home improvement project can allow you to keep your costs down and make it more affordable. You'll not only avoid stress but can feel in control of the project and have peace of mind once it's completed.

Here’s another handy guide for making the most of your money while designing your home’s interior!

Large Family? Our Best Tips for Saving Money at the Grocery Store

Large Family? Our Best Tips for Saving Money at the Grocery Store
This post contains paid affiliate links, please read our Advertising Disclosure Statement.

Individuals with large families know very well how high numbers can come with monthly or bi-monthly grocery bills. The cost of making breakfast, lunch, and dinner, day after day, can add up quickly, especially if you have children with special dietary needs. Here are a few tips to keep your grocery bill in check and save money on the food your family loves.

Coupons

Coupons are a great way to save money. However, it will take a measurable degree of organizational skills to reap the full benefits of this strategy. Traditional couponers have routinely reported hundreds of dollars in savings from coupons each week.

Coupon apps are also available to people who do not have the patience for cutting and organizing paper coupons. These apps allow coupons to be 'clipped' and savings to be earned by the user at the register. Some coupon apps even give rebates to users.
Planning Meals in Advance

Meal planning can shave hundreds of dollars off the family grocery bill. By planning your meals, you can avoid impulse trips to fast food restaurants, and you can involve your children in cooking meals. It will also help you to spend less time shopping for groceries. If you have no desire to or are unfamiliar with planning meals, there are many meal plans available for families to use. Some of these plans must be purchased; however, they are still cheaper than both meal delivery plans and purchasing fast food meals.

Generic Products

A switch from name brand to generic products is a simple strategy that can save you money on groceries. Rarely will anyone in your household know the difference between the products.

An important thing to remember is that this switch can be reversed. If the change to a generic product is not well received by your family, you can always return to the original product.

Bulk Buying

Many are familiar with the concept that buying products in bulk will lead to long-term savings on groceries. Many times this is true; however, careful planning is needed to ensure that your buying is done responsibly.

Buying in bulk is an art that must be mastered. Purchases should be tailored to the taste of your family. You will not save money purchasing a six-month supply of a product that four out of five of your children will not eat.

Make Use of Store Ads

Many families save money on meal by meal planning around store circulars and advertisements. A store will have different products on sale each week. This can afford you and your family some variety in meal planning while also saving you money.

When a certain type of meat is on sale, this can be the foundation for a meal. When black beans are being sold below the normal cost, chili can be served to the family. The family that is willing to exercise flexibility with meal plans can cut their monthly grocery bill by shopping based on what products are on sale.

In-Season Buying

Produce is considerably more expensive when it is purchased out of season. This one can be difficult when kids love a particular product. For instance, the love of strawberries can be an expensive indulgence in the middle of December. It is a good idea to purchase a variety of fruits and vegetables for your family at all times to expand their palates and give them a variety of nutrients.

Foster Allowance

To those families to which this applies, you know that if you foster children you are given an allowance to spend on them. Use it wisely! Depending on how many foster children you currently have, you want to find out how much they need in clothing and other necessities and then promptly put anything that is left over into the grocery budget. After all, it makes sense to spend more money on food if there are going to be more mouths to feed.

Loyalty Programs

Many grocery stores provide rewards for patronizing their stores on a frequent basis. Pick one or two stores close to you and become familiar with their customer reward systems.

When you gain an understanding of the reward offers of a particular store, it will guide your purchasing habits in that particular store to gain free or discounted products available through rewards.

Shopping for a large family is quite the task, and can be even more expensive, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t save money either. Be patient and thorough and watch that grocery bill come down over the months.
